Suramérica: industrialización y teoría clásica del desarrollo. Algunas evidencias

Resumen

Durante cierto tiempo, la industrialización suramericana registró tasas medias similares a las observadas en otros países ricos en recursos naturales o de reciente industrialización. Sin embargo, en el largo plazo sus resultados no fueron halagüeños en términos
de convertirse la industria en el motor del desarrollo económico. En este artículo se muestran algunas evidencias a partir de la comparación con el desarrollo industrial en los nuevos estados industriales de Asia.

Abstract
For a certain time, South America industrialization registered average rates similar to those registered in other countries with abundant natural resources and/ or recently industrialized. However, in the long run, its results were not promising in terms of the industry becoming the engine of economic development. This essay shows some evidence by comparing its performance with the industrial development in the Newly Industrializing Countries and other countries from Asia.
